For his latest film, documentary filmmaker Éli Laliberté immerses viewers into the daily life of his son Lucas, in his twenties, passionate about hip-hop and living with Down syndrome, a chromosomal anomaly. Lucas, an endangered human species, initiates a complex yet essential debate on often misunderstood or overlooked realities of the general public, through discussions with doctors, researchers, and those who interact with Down syndrome. From Montreal to Denmark, passing through Belgium, the documentary sheds light on various narratives and initiatives, different perspectives that deeply provoke thoughts on the value assigned to human lives often deemed “outside the norm,” and provides valuable insights far beyond stereotypes.
