From witchcraft to the most unexpected offenses, from absurd laws to punishments of extreme brutality, Justice et châtiments traces the sweeping history of justice across the centuries.
Each episode explores a category of crime, going back to its earliest roots and following its evolution up to the present day. Over time, we discover that certain acts once tolerated have become criminal, that strange laws often stem from very real collective fears, and that yesterday’s punishments challenge our modern values.
